On February 7, 2017 the ISF President, Mr. Laurent Petrynka, accompanied by deputy ISF President, Mr Stelios Daskalakis visited the IOC Headquarter in Lausanne for a meeting with the IOC President, Dr. Thomas Bach, the Head of Candidature Services of the Olympic Games Department, Mr. Mattias Kaestner, the Head of Relations with International organisations Department of international cooperation and development, Mrs. Katia Mascagni, and the Sport Coordination Manager of the Sport Department, Mr. Mike Joyce.
In this occasion, the IOC and ISF representatives had the occasion to discuss potential cooperations on different issues. Firstly, the ISF and its national members were recognised by the IOC as fundamental interlocutors between the sport community and the Ministries of Education all around the world: the advocacy work of ISF members is considered as a a key action aiming for an enhanced role of sport in schools and in all national educational programmes.
Secondly, the two organisations agreed on continuing their cooperation in order to promote the strong link that exists between sport and education: this cooperation will be based on the sharing of good practices that could improve the level of the education-through-sport activities conducted in the framework of sport events.
Finally, IOC and ISF reiterated the importance of a strong collaboration between their respective national members, i.e. National Olympic Committees (and National Sport Federations) and National School Sport Organisations.
