Last week, an ISF representation, led by the ISF President M. Laurent Petrynka, paid an official institutional visit in Chinese Taipei. The ISF delegation was received by the Vice-President of Chinese Taipei, the Minister of Education and by the highest representatives of the Chinese Taipei National Olympic Committee.
The visit was the occasion to discuss the development of School Sport in the country and to reinforce the cooperation between the ISF and the sport and governmental institutions of the island. Notably, in the last years, Chinese Taipei has shown a great interest towards the spread of youth sport and towards the values that sport can transmit to young generations.
This is particularly visible in the commitment that the country is showing in its relationship with the International University Sport Federation (FISU) and in the organisation of the 2017 Summer Universiade.
In this context, the ISF delegation had the opportunity to visit the venues that will host the Universiade and to meet the members of the Organising Committee. Concurrently, all the Chinese Taipei representatives reiterated their will to strengthen the cooperation with the ISF and showed a strong interest in investigating the possibilities to host, in the near future, the Gymnasiade or other World Schools Championships.
