Just a few months after the Summer Olympics 2016 held in Rio, over 260 participants from 13 countries - Belgium DG, Belgium FL, Brazil, Chile, China, Chinese Taipei, England, France, Germany, Italy, New Zealand, Scotland and Turkey meet in Recife, Brazil to compete in the Tennis World Schools Championship organised by International School Sport Federation (ISF) and the Brazilian School Sport Confederation ( CBDE) with the support of the local department of the promotion of tourism and sports.
The competition just started today with single and double matches and will be run till Saturday – day of the finals. The day will end up with the opening ceremony which will promotes the traditional dances and music. Next to their competitions, they will get the chance to be involved in an ambassador contest, a mixed-friendship event, a cultural day and an intercultural festival.
ISF World Schools Championship is broadcasted live through social media (facebook and youtube) in order to promote tennis practice among young people all around the world. Peers and relatives can watch the matches, comment and share their moves. Starting on 13th of February, the matches broadcasted will available on the ISF WSC Tennis facebook.
This event could not have been a success without the entire dedication of the volunteers who have been working on the project for a year. Besides, each team has its own team leader who come from a local school (Colégio Santa Mônica), a total of 24 multilingual and talented students who are volunteering, an asset that will be fruitful for their resume.
