Preparations Advance for the U15 World School Sport Games Brazil 2023

In the context of the 2nd edition of the U15 World School Sport Games which were attributed to Brazil for 2023, an ISF delegation composed of ISF President Laurent Petrynka and ISF Sports Director Josip Kosutic arrived in Brazil this week. They were welcomed by Confederaçao Brasilaira Do Desporto Escolar (CBDE) President Antonio Hora Filho, CBDE Secretary General and ISF Vice-President Robson Aguiar, and CBDE CEO Luiz Delphino to meet with State Secretary of Sport, Leisure, and Youth in the State of Rio de Janeiro, Gutemberg Fonseca de Palau, for the opportunity to finalise the programme and concept of Brazil 2023.

Additionally the visit provided the chance to visit the facilities which are being used for the ‘Jogos Escolares Brasileiros’ (JEB), the Brazilian School Games, with a similar framework being envisioned for Brazil 2023, when school students aged 13-15 years of age will travel from around the world to Brazil to participate in the 2nd edition of the new ISF event, the U15 World School Sport Games. Taking place from 29 October to 5 November, the Brazilian School will gather 8000 participants from all over Brazil to compete in 17 sports, 5 team and 12 individual sports.

ISF President Laurent Petrynka: “It is important for ISF to be at the Brazilian School Games, to see how Brazil is organising events as Brazil will host the next edition of the U15 World School Sport Games in 2023 and continue the development of this new ISF event. The fact that the majority of venues are in the Olympic Park and were used for Olympics 2016 is also an important factor, so that students can experience the spirit of the Olympic Games.”

CBDE President Antonio Hora Filho spoke about the importance of the Brazilian School Games after 17 years since the last edition: "There is a huge and natural expectation about the return of the Brazilian School Games, after all, it is almost two decades of waiting. The structure offered here in the Olympic Park makes the event even more special, especially because it is in the wonderful city.”
