ISF ATHLETIC CUP “JEAN HUMBERT”
Jean Humbert died on 07 June 1988 in a terrible road accident. He was on his way to Annecy. He was the manager of the School Sport Games of the UNSS in France, which took place in this town from 24 to 30 June 1988.
The PE professor was born on 19 November 1936 in Morocco. The major points of his professional career are :
• Professor at the regional centre for physical education in Talence to train future professors.
• Censor of the CREPS in Dinard.
• Assistant Director of the national school of ski and mountaineering in Chamonix.
• Assistant Director of the regional service of the UNSS at the Academy of Bordeaux.
• Assistant Director of the national service of the UNSS, in charge of athletics.
• Assistant Director of the national service of the UNSS, in charge of all individual sports .
During his athlete’s career at the BEC (Bordeaux Etudiant Club) he has been 14 times member of the national selection in triple jump and long jump :
First selection on 20 July 1957
Last selection on 20 July 1968

He was a member of the ISF Technical Commission in Athletics since 1980.
The ISF has taken the decision to honour Jean Humbert by conferring his name to the Athletics Cup for Schools. He was just finishing the work in the commission in order to introduce a new formula for this cup.

The tenth edition will take place at the end of June 2007 in Bordeaux-Mérignac/France, the city where he lived a long time and the city where he started his athletics’ career.
