1. As Continental President, what are your plans in this perspective?
As one of the most active continents in ISF, Asia has always been playing a leading role in promoting continental school sports development. Asian School Sports Federation (ASSF) was founded in 1992. Now we have 17 members, namely Brunei Darussalam, China, Hong Kong China, India, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Korea, Macao China, Malaysia, Mongolia, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam. Main focus of future development of ASSF will be increasing membership, building brand championship, expanding scale and influence of educational event, publishing ASSF Magazine as well as building ASSF Website.
2. How do you think to realize those plans?
To achieve aforementioned targets, all the members of ASSF, especially Executive Committee of ASSF have contributed with heart and soul in past years. On average, there are 4 championships each year hosted by ASSF and 2 football championships by Asian School Football Federation (ASFF). Secretariat together with Technical Commission study and amend rules and regulations every year to build standard competition. Besides ASSF Forum, more and more host organizes coach and referee clinic as well as sports science conference during championship. More full time staff will start work in ASSF secretariat so as to promote magazine and website development.
3. How do you see the future of School Sport in your continent?
Comparing with ISF, ASSF is still a young organization with less history and experience. But with foundation of past 23 years development, under aegis of ISF, ASSF will for sure have more opportunities and occasions.
4. How can ISF contribute to the success of School sport in your continent?
Due to current situation of Asia, there are quite less Asian members participating in ISF event. As ISF Asia Continental President, I have been proposing changing ISF statutes as well as rules and regulations of ISF events to attract more attention from Asia, Africa, America and Oceania. I am glad to see that under leadership of Laurent, ISF President, everything is on the right track now and positive amendments will be achieved in near future. In the meantime, we hope ISF can organize more and more event in Asia, promoting ISF and accelerating understanding of Asian members to ISF.
5. Is it possible to increase the participation of more countries of your continent to ISF events?
In 2015 ISF Convention, meeting delegates proposed to increase sports discipline of Gymnasiade and open to selected teams in individual championships. This reform is of great importance to participation of Asia countries, which I do believe will attract more countries in our continent. With marketing development of ISF, I hope ISF will have more sponsor and financial incomes. Then I will suggest decreasing membership fee so as to encourage more and more developing countries to join in ISF.
6. Do you have more ‘dreams’ associated with the sport at school that you would like to see implemented?
I do hope and firmly believe, sooner or later, ISF will be an international sports organization with same influence as IOC, FIFA. Gymnasiade will be the highest level school sports festival around the world. School students in each corner on this planet can have the opportunity to participate in ISF event. That is what we are doing now. We are on the right orientation towards our dreams.
