On 26 May, the ISF Management Committee met online to discuss event preparations for the years 2021 and 2022 as well as the ISF documents regarding sport rules and the management of the different functional areas implemented at ISF events. During his opening words, ISF President Laurent Petrynka welcomed the members whilst underlining the proactiveness of ISF members in developing new activities and their enthusiasm in building a stronger ISF community looking to meet at ISF events.
The meeting began with an extensive presentation by the Organising Committee from the 18th Gymnasiade Jinjiang 2020 (16 to 23rd October 2021) with a focus on the Health and Safety situation. The members of the Management committee appreciated the efforts of the Organising Committee in setting up clear instructions and preparing consistent information on this particular topic and at the same time realising the complexity of the measures currently applied and their impact on the participating delegations of the Gymnasiade. Both parties agreed to exchange more information in the coming days in order to revaluate the constraints that would affect the participants and consequently provide the ISF members with the most up to date information.
This meeting was an opportunity to review the state of preparations of the ISF multi-sport events, particularly the 1st U15 World School Sport Games from 11 – 19 September 2021 in Belgrade, the 19th edition of the Gymnasiade hosted by Normandie in 2022 and the 20th edition of Gymnasiade held by Ekaterinburg in 2024.
The new concept of “Universal Teacher Games” was also adopted. It is the first time that a multi-sport event dedicated to Teachers is to be organised within the ISF. It will be an event which will lead the participants to exchange experiences and good practices on teaching physical education and the role of school sport in the curricula of the youth and the activities of the school communities. The first edition will take place in the Croatian city of Poreč this October.
Hrvoje Custonja, the Secretary General, presented the full set of documents which are the reference documents on which the various ISF stakeholders will base their preparation to organise ISF events. The documents have been revised in their entirety with a more managerial approach to ensure even higher professionalism.
Lastly, the Secretary General, made an overview of the next statutory meetings starting with the General Assembly that will take place on 27 June.
