This year again 13 ISF events are on the agenda of which six official ISF World Schools Championships and seven events “under the aegis” of the International School Sport Federation. During the past week the draw of tennis, football and basketball took place. The results of this draw can be found on the ISF Facebook page for each sport.
In March we start with the ISF Tennis World Schools Championship in Doha, Qatar (from 08/03 to 15/03). This is the 8th tennis event which is organized by ISF since 1995. This tournament is growing systematically and this year 19 boys’ teams and 17 girls’ teams are registered! We recorded no less than six countries that have never previously participated in ISF tennis; Brazil, Iran, Guatemala, Scotland, South Africa and Thailand. We welcome these countries.

The ISF Football World Schools Championship is organized for the 24th time. This year it will be in Retalhuleu (Guatemala) from 12/04 to 20/04. Following Peru (1997), Chile (2007) and Brazil (2011), this is the fourth time that South America has organized this event.
18 Different countries have registered, 18 boys’ teams and 13 girls’ teams. We note that there are two countries that will take part for the very first time in football; Saudi Arabia and the Dominican Republic.
While in the other sports the number of boys and girls sports teams is equal, we note that football at this time is predominantly still a boys sport. Of the 18 participating countries, 7 only bring a boys team, whilst two countries only send girls (Chinese Taipei and Germany).
The winning countries in the past year (Turkey / Finland and boys / girls) will defend their titles.

For the ISF World Schools Basketball Championship, we received a record number of entries! 2015, therefore, is a ‘record breaking’ year for ISF basketball. This is the 25th time that school teams from all over the world are invited to this event. 32 boys’ teams and 28 girls’ teams will participate, from 33 different countries. The newcomers are; Cameroun and Qatar. The WSC is organized for the 3rd time in France. After Orleans in 1989 and Pau in 2007, it is now up to Limoges to receive the basketball players. France, along with Israel, has continuously participated in this competition.
As in almost any ISF event the number of girls and boys teams participating is almost the same.
