For a week, Marrakech became the capital of global School Sport; delegations from 58 countries travelled to Morocco to take part in the 17th edition of - and biggest ever - Gymnasiade ISF School Summer Games.
On so many levels, Gymnasiade 2018, has been a record-breaking event.
Held under the High Patronage of his Majesty of King Mohammed VI and organised by the International School Sport Federation, Moroccan Ministry of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research, Ministry of Youth and Sport and Moroccan School Sport Federation, Gymnasiade 2018 has been the first International Youth Multisport event in Africa.
- Unofficially it has also been the first multisport event with more girls than boys athletes.
- For the first time in the history of ISF, the educational segment has been added to the event with a newly established Youth Council and its activities.
- Eighteen sport disciplines and 2000 young athletes participating made the 17th edition of Gymnasiade the biggest ISF School Summer Games ever.

New partnership with Olympic Channel and Eurosport
The reach of the event was additionally strengthened with partnership with the leading global sport media networks Olympic Channel and Eurosport.

Over the course of four days, Olympic Channel broadcasted five different sports while Eurosport supported the promotion of the event on its online channels with over 15 million monthly readers and 10+ million followers.
Cooperation with International Sport Federations
Among many high level guests, Mr Chungwon Choue, president of World Taekwondo Federation paid a visit to the young athletes in presence of ISF president Mr Laurent Petrynka and Gymnasiade ambassadors Marta Pagnini, Olympic bronze medallist in Rhythmic Gymnastics and Chika Chukwumerije, Olympic Games bronze medallist in men's taekwondo, Nigeria.
Competitions were run in cooperation with International Sport Federations: IAAF, World Taekwondo Federation, International Judo Federation, World Archery, International Boxing Association (AIBA), Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) and World Wrestling Union.
As any professional event, Gymnasiade also ran doping tests in accordance with WADA regulations.
Other professional athletes visiting the event as the ambassadors were Ibrahim Sabry, Youth Olympic Games Champion in Archery, Egypt, Marwa Amri, Olympic Games bronze medallist in Wrestling and Souleymane M'baye, former WBA super-lightweight champion.
Sport Village as the fun and educational segment of Gymnasiade
When not competing, youth had a chance to visit the Gymnasiade Sport Village where ISF Youth Council ran fun and educational activities on inclusion, sustainability and health. ORAD had a stand where young athletes had the opportunity to talk about the dangers of doping and learn more about the healthy way of athleticism.
Cultural evenings attracted a large number of youth to engage in cultural exchange and support the lifelong learning, friendship and tolerance.

Thank you to the LOC Moroccan Ministry of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research, Ministry of Youth and Sport and Moroccan School Sport Federation and more than 280 young volunteers who supported the event and made sure all athletes and teachers experience a beautiful week of sport and friendship.
On all levels, Gymnasiade 2018 was a record-breaking event. At the Closing Ceremony the ISF flag was handed to China, the hosts of Gymnasiade 2020.
The Moroccan chapter is closed and the journey to Jinjiang, China and Gymnasiade 2020 has begun.
