ISF Leadership Attends the 18th Edition of Qatar’s School Olympic Program
May 22, Doha, Qatar – ISF President Mr. Željko Tanasković, accompanied by members of the ISF Executive Committee and Executive Director Mrs. Hasnae El Ayoubi, attended the 18th edition of the Qatar School Olympic Program (SOP) in Doha.
This year’s edition attracted international attention, including the presence of IOC President Thomas Bach, who reiterated his support for the importance of school sport during his meeting with ISF President Tanasković.
Established as a legacy of the 2006 Qatar Asian Games, the SOP was initiated by the Qatar Olympic Committee, under the leadership of its President H.E. Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, with the aim of promoting sports and physical activity among school students in Qatar.
Thanks to the joint efforts of the Qatar Olympic Committee, the Qatar School Sports Association (led by H.E. Sheikh Khalifa bin Khalid Al Thani), and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education – State of Qatar (under the leadership of H.E. Lolwah bint Rashid bin Mohammed Al Khater), the School Olympic Program has grown into a high-impact national event that plays a major role in advancing school sport across the country.
The Qatar School Olympic Program is a commendable initiative aimed at promoting sports, physical fitness, and a culture of healthy living among school students. This comprehensive program serves as a platform for students to engage in competitive sports, develop their athletic skills, and strengthen their connection to health and education.
