ISF World School Golf Championship 2025 Officially Opens in Rabat

Jul. 14, Rabat, Morocco – The inaugural edition of the ISF World School Golf Championship was officially declared open today during a vibrant ceremony held at the Royal Golf Dar Es Salam in Morocco’s capital city.

The opening ceremony brought together dignitaries, school-athletes, and guests in celebration of this historic moment — the first time golf has been included in the ISF event programme.

Presiding over the ceremony was Mr. Saad Berrada, Minister of National Education, Preschool and Sports, who welcomed the international delegations and reaffirmed the country’s commitment to using sport as a tool for education and development.

The Moroccan national anthem and flag raising marked the official start of the ceremony, followed by a parade of 16 delegations across four continents. The energy and anticipation were palpable as each team took the stage, one by one, under cheers and celebration.

Opening addresses were delivered by three distinguished leaders:

  • Mr. Saad Berrada, Minister of National Education, Preschool and Sports

  • Mr. Željko Tanasković, President of the International School Sport Federation (ISF)

  • Mr. Abdellatif Idmahamma, Secretary General of the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation and representative of the Local Organising Committee

In his address, ISF President Željko Tanasković welcomed participants with the following words:

"This championship is not only about winning – it is about learning, sharing, and building friendships across borders. Golf teaches patience, respect, honesty, and self-control – values that reflect ISF’s core mission to empower youth through education and sport."

He also extended sincere thanks to His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid, the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation, the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports, and all organisers and volunteers involved in making this event possible.

Following the speeches, the ISF anthem and flag were presented, and the traditional oaths were taken in both English and Arabic. The Referees' Oath was delivered by Kama El Assali and Abdeljabar Ayadi, while Saad Ahalouch and Sofia Essakali  delivered the Athletes’ Oath.

In unison, the dignitaries officially declared the Games open. The evening concluded with a cocktail reception and a cultural performance, offering a warm Moroccan welcome to all participants.

This championship not only celebrates athletic excellence but also highlights ISF’s dedication to diversifying its sport portfolio and promoting access to high-quality competition within the global school sport system. With Morocco set to host the ISF WSC Golf again in 2026 and 2028, this event represents the beginning of a new legacy in school golf.
