Founded in 1972, the International School Sport Federation (ISF) is an international non-profit sport organisation, acting as the umbrella organisation and governing body for national school sport organisations around the world, organising sport, and educational events for youth from 11 to 18 years old.
Recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) since 1995, the ISF currently consists of 135 members over the five continents organising over 5 - 7 events per year and has more than 30 different sports included in its competition programme.
Besides its sport events, ISF also creates and delivers quality education and capacity-building activities for physical education teachers, national school sport representatives, coaches, officials, and students around the world.
ISF Governance
The International School Sport Federation (ISF) operates under a multi-tiered governance model, ensuring fairness, transparency, and inclusivity in decision-making.
At its core, the General Assembly serves as the highest authority, bringing together representatives from ISF member organizations worldwide to shape the federation’s strategic direction. The Executive Committee oversees the implementation of policies and operational management, while various specialized commissions and committees provide expertise on key areas such as sport development, ethics, and education.
This structure promotes collective decision-making, accountability, and open dialogue, reinforcing ISF’s commitment to upholding the values of integrity, inclusiveness, and excellence in international school sport.
ISF GENERAL ASSEMBLY

The ISF General Assembly (GA) is the supreme governing body of the ISF. It is vested with all powers specifically conferred to it by law and in its articles of association.
The ISF GA holds the authority to vote on key matters such as the membership status, the appointment and dismissal of Executive Committee members, the approval of ISF’s annual financial and activity reports, and amendments to the articles of association.
The ISF GA convenes at least once a year, bringing together all ISF member organisations from around the world.
ISF EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

The ISF Executive Committee (EC) has the authority to decide on key ISF matters, ensuring efficient coordination among committees and regions. Its decisions significantly influence ISF's operations, governance, and future growth.
The ISF EC is composed of members elected by ISF GA, including:
- 1 President
- 3 Vice Presidents
- 14 Assessors, and
- 5 Continental Presidents
The ISF EC works closely with the ISF GA. Elections for ISF EC members are held every four years, with candidates nominated by full ISF members.
ISF MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE

The ISF Management Committee (MC) has the authority to supervise the General Secretariat of the ISF, adopt general administration policies and hire the staff in the General Secretariat.
The Management Committee (MC) is composed of seven (7) members, as follows:
- The President of the ISF
- The three Vice-Presidents of the ISF
- Two representatives from ISF Executive Committee
- the Executive Director of ISF acting as the Secretary General
The MC has the powers delegated to it by the EC. MC reports to the EC on MC's activities and decisions.
