Council of Europe: 17th Council of Europe Conference of Ministers responsible for Sport

On October 26th and 27 took place the 17th Council of Europe Conference of Ministers responsible for Sport in Antalya, Türkiye, the country which will host the ISF Winter Gymnasiade next February 2023 in Erzurum.

The ISF, which is a member of the Consultative Committee of EPAS, chairing this committee attended the event.

Two resolutions were adopted by the member states at this occasion:

* Sport for All: uniting us for stronger societies

* Rethinking Sport: leading the way for a healthy and sustainable future.

ISF took the floor to draw the attention on the following: “

That there is a constant decrease in the practice of sport and particularly in organized sport and especially among teenage girls. This practice being understood as providing the right organized structure to be developed with the appropriate professional technical, pedagogical and educational support for the benefit of practitioners and communities at large.

The role of sport never been so important, this why we must include a sport dimension in education and intelligence development as well as in healthy policies including the “mental – cognitive”. That all stakeholders must cooperate to provide

  - Strengthening the relationship between educational institutions and organized sport to acquire the appropriate knowledge to have a balanced and independent life to cope with the rapid changes of our societies for strengthen a responsible valued based citizenship

The question of means is essential, the policies must be proactive with an approach having as focal point education and prevention and adaptation is essential, these investments will immediately have positive consequences on all the subjects that are asked of the treaty sport through these structures and for which School Sport is an appropriate and great tool

 

On the 27th October an additional event took place, titled: 

Inclusion of migrants and refugees through sport: Assessing current best practice, identifying vulnerabilities, and finding ways to move forwards

Amongst a number of major sport organisation such as IOC and UEFA for example, ISF present the action taken this year for ensuring the presence of Ukrainian teams in May at the 18th Gymnasiade – Normandy 2022 and in Strbské Pleso, Slovakia for the ISF World Cross Country School Sport Championship.

Based on its actions, ISF draw the attention to the fact that, since ever sports and education structures have been vectors for welcoming and integrating people who have emigrated. The sports communities allowed people who had emigrated to be surrounded, guided, advised and finally integrated in a flexible and discreet way in the host countries thanks to the formidable network of very varied people who are involved in sport. Isn't one of the characteristics of sport its SOCIAL CAPITAL from the most local level to the most international level and from the best integrated people to the people in the process of integration.
