CBDE 25 anniversary 2025

ISF Celebrates 25 Years of CBDE’s Dedication to School Sport

May 26, Brasília, Brazil – The International School Sport Federation (ISF) proudly joined the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Brazilian School Sport Federation (Confederação Brasileira do Desporto Escolar, CBDE), marking a major milestone in the development of school sport in Brazil and beyond.

The celebration brought together key leaders in school sport, including ISF President Mr. Željko Tanasković, ISF first Vice Presidents Mr. Youssef Belqasmi, and ISF Vice President Mr. Antonio Hora Filho who also serves as President of CBDE. Also in attendance were the ISF Continental President of America and President of Mexican School Sport federation (Federación Mexicana de Deporte Escolar, FEMEDEES) Mr. José Martin Sanchez.

Since its founding in 2000, CBDE has played a vital role in shaping Brazil’s school sport landscape. For 25 years, the organisation has promoted national and international competitions, delivered educational training programmes, and supported the development of thousands of student-athletes and coaches. With a mission deeply rooted in inclusion, talent development, and community impact, CBDE has become a model for national school sport federations.

As highlighted during the ceremony, CBDE’s legacy extends far beyond competition. It has helped generations of young Brazilians discover their athletic talent and grow as individuals through sport—many of whom have gone on to represent Brazil on international stages and later return to support grassroots school sport in their communities.

Brazil has long been a cornerstone in the ISF network, not only as an enthusiastic participant but also as an experienced host of international school sport events. Over the years, CBDE has brought the values of education and excellence to life through ISF World School Championships and Gymnasiades.

In this spirit of continuity and commitment, the ISF looks ahead to the ISF World School Futsal Championship 2025, set to take place this November in Brasília. The event is expected to welcome talented school athletes from around the world to Brazil’s capital, further strengthening the country’s role as a global hub for youth sport and education.

The ISF congratulates CBDE on its 25 years of vision, passion, and impact. We look forward to continuing this strong partnership and advancing school sport together across the Americas and the world.
