ISF and Kukkiwon Sign MoU to Connect Taekwondo Education and International School Sport
Oct. 16, Seoul, Korea – ISF and Kukkiwon signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Seoul, establishing a new partnership to strengthen Taekwondo education and explore connections between their respective international sporting programmes.
The agreement was signed by ISF President Željko Tanasković and Kukkiwon President Yoon Woong-seok, in the presence of ISF Secretary General Hasnae El Ayoubi and senior Kukkiwon representatives.
A key area of the cooperation is exploring opportunities to connect the internationally renowned World Taekwondo Hanmadang with ISF's global event system. By bringing together Kukkiwon's established Taekwondo platform and ISF's international school sport network, the two organisations aim to identify new ways for young people to experience Taekwondo, participate in international activities and engage with its cultural and educational traditions.
The agreement also covers the development of Taekwondo education programmes for schools worldwide, expanded training opportunities for physical education teachers and coaches, and initiatives promoting cultural exchange among young people. These efforts seek to make Taekwondo's educational values and benefits more accessible within school sport.
During the signing ceremony at Kukkiwon, the Kukkiwon Taekwondo Demonstration Team delivered a performance showcasing the sport's technical and cultural traditions.
Through this partnership, ISF and Kukkiwon aim to combine their expertise and international networks to expand opportunities for school students, connecting Taekwondo education, sporting participation and cultural exchange while supporting the healthy development of young people.
