ISF Strengthens International Cooperation at the AIMS General Assembly
Oct. 7, Lausanne, Switzerland – ISF was invited to participated in the 𝗔𝗜𝗠𝗦 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗹𝘆 in Lausanne as an AIMS Partner. ISF leadership used this great opportunity to present ISF's global work in school sport, strengthen connections with international sports federations and establish new areas of cooperation for the benefit of the next generation.
ISF President Željko Tanasković, Secretary General Hasnae El Ayoubi and Sport Director Marko Petrič attended the General Assembly. During the meeting, ISF introduced its international activities and invited participating federations to explore opportunities to bring their sports closer to schools and young people.
Expanding the range of sports available to students can create more opportunities for participation, encourage young people to discover sports that suit their interests and enrich the international school sport experience. Through stronger connections with international federations, ISF aims to build bridges between sports organisations and the next generation, while promoting inclusion, cultural exchange and learning through sport.
The General Assembly also provided a setting for two cooperation agreements. ISF signed an MoU with the Ju-Jitsu International Federation (JJIF), following an extended period of dialogue between the two organisations. The cooperation aims to promote Ju-Jitsu in the school environment and support the development of international opportunities for student athletes.
ISF also signed a cooperation agreement with Mission 89, a Geneva-based non-profit association dedicated to protecting young athletes from exploitation and trafficking. Its work includes raising awareness of safeguarding and athlete protection, including the prevention of bullying and other forms of harm in sport. The agreement adds to ISF’s engagement with organisations working to ensure that young people can participate in sport in a safe and supportive environment.
Together, these developments highlight two complementary dimensions of ISF’s international work: expanding the sporting opportunities available to students and strengthening the responsibility of the sporting community to protect their wellbeing. By connecting international federations and specialist organisations with school sport, ISF continues to promote an environment in which young people can participate, learn and develop through sport.
