Organised under the banner of the Schweizer Verband für Sport in der Schule (SVSS – Swiss Association for School Physical Education), this annual flagship event continues to serve as a testament to the nation's enduring commitment to youth sport. Since its establishment in 1969, the SVSS has championed school-based physical education and sport, and this year’s edition in Luzern once again reflected that legacy.

The 2025 event featured 428 school teams competing across 11 sporting disciplines, including volleyball, athletics, swimming, and unihockey. Competition was fierce but fair, showcasing not only the athletic talent of Swiss youth aged 13 to 16, but also the values of fair play and cooperation.

A festive opening ceremony on the iconic Europaplatz set the tone for the day, with 1,600 students uniting in a coordinated flashmob – a powerful symbol of unity and youthful energy. In a historic first, the 2025 edition welcomed the participation of students from special needs classes, marking a significant milestone in the SVSS’s ongoing efforts to make school sport accessible to all. This inclusive initiative will be further expanded in future editions, affirming the association’s progressive outlook.

The ISF congratulates the SVSS team and dedicated organising committee for delivering a seamless, inspiring event. Their efforts, along with the support of the Luzern region, have laid a strong foundation for the future of the event.

As the SVSS looks ahead to the next edition – scheduled for 29 May 2026 in Winterthur, with a projected 3,000 participants – preparations for regional qualifications are already underway. To all aspiring student-athletes across Switzerland: train hard, compete fair, and carry the spirit of sport with pride.

The ISF recognises the SVSS’s continued dedication to national-level school sport and commends its steps toward inclusive practice and event excellence.
