ISF and BWF Conclude PE Teachers and Sport Educators Training Programme in India
Dec. 15, Lausanne, Switzerland – In collaboration with the Badminton World Federation (BWF), ISF Academy successfully delivered a comprehensive training programme for Physical Education (PE) teachers and sport educators in India from 2 to 13 December, with sessions hosted in Pune and New Delhi.
The programme was locally coordinated by the International Schools Sports Organisation (ISSO), the ISF member organisation in India, ensuring strong on-ground engagement and effective outreach to schools and educators.
Approximately 50 PE teachers and sport educators from across India participated in the training, which focused on the BWF Shuttle Time and BWF Coach Level 1 programmes. These internationally recognised courses are designed to equip educators with practical coaching skills, modern teaching methodologies, and age-appropriate approaches to badminton instruction within school environments.
The primary objective of this collaboration was to promote high-quality training programmes and upskilling opportunities for PE teachers, reinforcing their role as key drivers of sport development at grassroots and school levels. By strengthening teachers’ technical and pedagogical capacities, the initiative directly supports the delivery of quality physical education in schools.
Ultimately, the collaboration between ISF and BWF aims to expand the reach and practice of badminton across schools in India, leveraging the extensive ISF schools and teachers network to create sustainable pathways for participation and talent development.
This training programme represents a global pilot initiative launched under the vision of ISF, aimed at advancing quality education and professional development opportunities for PE teachers and sport educators. The initiative is implemented within the framework of ISF’s Memoranda of Understanding and cooperation agreements with international sports federations.
Building on the success of this pilot in India, the ISF Academy, led by ISF Academy Director Romain Fermon, plans to further develop and expand this initiative in 2026, working closely with ISF member organisations and international sports federations to deliver impactful, globally aligned education and training programmes for educators worldwide.
