ISF U15 WSC Volleyball 2025 Opens in Shangluo, P.R.China
Dec. 5, Shangluo, China – The ISF U15 World School Volleyball Championship 2025 officially opened this evening at the Shangluo Gymnasium, bringing together 30 teams from 17 delegations for eight days of international school sport competition and cultural exchange.
Launched in 1972, the ISF World School Volleyball Championship is the highest-level school volleyball event worldwide. Earlier this year, Shangluo was awarded hosting rights for four consecutive editions from 2025 to 2028, covering both U15 and U18 age categories—an exceptional commitment that highlights the city’s ambition to become a rising hub for volleyball development in China.
ISF President Željko Tanasković, speaking at the opening ceremony, shared his personal connection to the sport:“As a former Olympic volleyball player, volleyball holds a very special place in my heart. Seeing so many young athletes gathered here makes this moment deeply meaningful.”
He emphasised that the championship goes far beyond competition: “This event is about friendship, team spirit, fair play, and learning from each other. These values stand at the centre of school sport and the mission of the ISF.”
This year’s edition welcomes teams from traditional volleyball nations such as Brazil, Serbia, and Bulgaria, alongside strong delegations from across Asia, Europe, Africa, and the America. The host delegation fields two boys’ and two girls’ teams, all of whom arrived early for training in Shangluo ahead of the competition.
As the competition begins, ISF extends its gratitude to Shangluo for its warm hospitality and strong organisational commitment. Over the next four years, the city will continue to welcome the world’s school volleyball community—advancing its vision of becoming a “Volleyball City” through national events, continental tournaments, and ISF championships across two age groups.
