Delhi Will Host ISF Events in 2027

Jun. 30, New Delhi, India – Another milestone of ISF's recent engagement across Asia was reached in New Delhi, where ISF has reached another important milestone in the development of school sport in the region.

During an official ceremony attended by Delhi's Minister of Education and Sports, Ashish Sood, a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Government of Delhi, the School Games Federation of India (SGFI), and ISF, establishing a framework for cooperation towards the organisation of future international school sport events in the Indian capital.

Representing ISF at the ceremony were ISF President Željko Tanasković and Executive Director Hasnae El Ayoubi, who joined representatives of SGFI and the Delhi Government to discuss the long-term development potential of international school sport in India. Initial discussions focused on Delhi's potential hosting of ISF World School Championships 2027 of Badminton and Wrestling welcoming approximately 1000 school athletes of 50 delegations from around the world.

Beyond the competition itself, the project is also expected to contribute to the development of local sporting ecosystems, provide valuable international experience for young athletes, create international-standard sports facilities, set up an international-level sports university, and further strengthen the visibility of school sport within India's broader sporting landscape.

ISF experts will work closely with SGFI and future local organising partners in Delhi in the coming months to further develop the project and prepare the foundations for a successful edition of international school sport in India.
