ISF WSC Futsal 2025 Officially Kicks-off in Brasília
Nov. 12, Brasília, Brazil – The ISF World School Futsal Championship 2025 officially opened its doors this evening in the capital city of Brazil, marking the beginning of a week celebrating sport, culture, and education.
Gathering 25 boys’ teams and 14 girls’ teams from 19 delegations, the ceremony united young athletes, coaches, officials, and guests from across the world, all ready to compete and connect under the banner of school sport.
Representing the Local Organising Committee (LOC), ISF Vice President Mr. Antônio Hora Filho welcomed all participants to Brasília, encouraging them to embrace this international experience as an opportunity to grow through sport and culture.
Delivering his remarks on behalf of the ISF, President Željko Tanasković reminded the young athletes of the true meaning of sport:
“The International School Sport Federation believes that sport is not just about winning. It is about education, respect, friendship, fair play, inclusion, and excellence,” he said. “This week, you will not only play futsal — you will share your traditions, music, dances, and smiles.”
President Tanasković also expressed his gratitude to CBDE, the Local Organising Committee, and all the amazing volunteers whose hard work made this global school sport event possible.
Representing the Brazilian Ministry of Sport, Mr. Paulo Henrique Perna Cordeiro, National Secretary of Sport, Education, Leisure and Social Inclusion, addressed the audience on behalf of the Minister of Sport Mr. André Fufuca, highlighting Brazil’s commitment to promoting youth participation and education through sport.
Also attending the Opening Ceremony were Mr. José Martin Sanchez, ISF Continental President of America and President of the Mexican School Sport Federation; ISF Executive Director Hasnae El Ayoubi; and several representatives from foreign embassies and consulates based in Brazil, showing strong international support for the event.
As part of the ceremony, Bogdan Lukic from the Serbian delegation took the Athletes’ Oath, while César Pereira Leite of Brazil delivered the Referees’ Oath, pledging to uphold fair play and integrity throughout the competition.
The Opening Ceremony concluded with vibrant cultural performances and a parade of delegations, setting an energetic tone for the days ahead as the world’s best school futsal teams prepare to take to the courts in Brasília.
