ISF World School Cross Country Championship 2022 in Full Flow!

The 25th edition of the ISF World School Cross Country Championship 2022 taking place in Štrbské Pleso, Slovakia from the 22nd – 27th April, is in full flow as we enter the second half of the event.

Over 300 participants from Belgium, Czech Republic, England, France, Ireland, Israel, Lithuania, Mexico, Morocco, Netherlands, Slovakia, Spain, Turkey, Uganda, and Ukraine, arrived in Slovakia on Thursday and Friday (21st & 22nd April) ahead of the weekend, in time for the official Press Conference of the event on the Friday afternoon. It was then Saturday which saw the beginning of activities, with meetings and training for all delegations taking place in the morning, with the official Opening Ceremony being held later on in the afternoon, welcoming all delegations for the start of a memorable week ahead. Sunday was the occasion of the main event, with all 4 competitive races being held in the categories of School Teams, boys, and girls, as well as Selected Teams, boys, and girls.

Despite the tough conditions of the race, seeing plenty of rain throughout, all participants were in good spirits, with a strong crowd supporting each of them. Congratulations to all the participants who took part in this latest edition of the ISF World School Cross Country Championship, with special mention to the podium winners from England, Mexico, Morocco, Turkey, and Uganda.

Today, Monday 25th April, participants have had the opportunity to relax and visit a number of local areas in the region, through the cultural activities planned for them by the Local Organising Committee. This will then be followed up with the Cultural Evening tonight, with delegations having more opportunities to exchange and learn about each of the participants and their countries. For the complete results of Sunday 24th April, see here:

The final day, tomorrow, Tuesday 26th April, will see all delegations participate in a friendship relay, a non-competitive format, allowing everyone yet another chance to interact with each other through the sport that brought them all together. This will then be followed by educational activities and workshops, focused on Olympic values: friendship, respect, excellence. Promoting education through sport as well as the concept of Olympism being its mission. To round off the day, the delegations will then be treated to one final celebration, a send off for the event, of music and dance, before returning home after the busy week of activities.
