Skopje to Host the 2026 World School Handball Championship

Aug. 2, Skopje, North Macedonia – An official agreement was signed today in Skopje for the organization of the ISF World School Handball Championship for high school boys and girls. This major international event will take place in the capital of North Macedonia from April 20 to 29, 2026.

The agreement was signed by the Minister of Sports of North Macedonia, Borko Ristovski, the President of the Federation for School Sports of North Macedonia, Elena Mickovska, and the President of the International School Sport Federation (ISF), Željko Tanasković. The signing ceremony was also attended by the General Secretary of the Macedonian Federation, Grihor Hristov.

“Handball is the most popular sport in North Macedonia." stated Željko Tanasković. "The idea for Skopje to host this prestigious championship was born early this year during the World Gymnasiade held on Zlatibor. Minister Borko Ristovski and his team visited the event and were impressed by the high level of organization in school sports.”

The championship is expected to bring together around 1,000 high school handball players from all over the world. Matches will be held in six different sports halls across Skopje, and the organizers promise excellent conditions for all participants, along with a rich cultural and educational program throughout the competition.
