Zlatibor is Ready for ISF WSC Basketball 2026
More than 900 participants.
29 delegations from 5 continents.
60 teams across the boys' and girls' tournaments.
Serbia's 10th ISF sporting event.
The countdown is nearly over as the ISF World School Basketball Championship – Zlatibor, Serbia 2026 prepares to welcome the global school basketball community from 14 to 22 June. As the largest ISF World School Championship organised since the pandemic, this year's event brings together an unprecedented combination of sporting excellence, educational opportunities, and international friendship.
A Global Gathering for School Basketball
With over 900 participants representing 29 delegations from five continents, the championship once again confirms basketball's place among the most internationally represented sports within the ISF event system.
Across 7 days of competition, school basketball players will compete for world titles while sharing experiences that extend far beyond the basketball court. The championship offers young athletes the opportunity to compete against peers from diverse sporting cultures, building friendships and mutual understanding through school sport.
Balanced Participation, Shared Opportunities
The 2026 edition features 31 boys' teams and 29 girls' teams, reflecting the strong engagement of both boys and girls within the international school basketball community.
Providing meaningful competitive opportunities for student-athletes across both categories remains an important part of the ISF mission, ensuring that international school sport continues to grow in an inclusive and balanced way.
A Trusted Host for International School Sport
For the Serbian School Sport Federation (SSSF), the championship marks another significant milestone. It will be the tenth ISF sport event organised by SSSF and the eleventh ISF event overall, including a previous ISF General Assembly.
The momentum will continue next month, as Belgrade hosts the ISF General Assembly once again—bringing the Federation's total to twelve ISF events organised in partnership with ISF.
Over the years, SSSF has established itself as one of ISF's most experienced organising members, consistently delivering international events while playing an active role in the development of the Federation. Preparations are already underway for future ISF events, further strengthening the long-term partnership between ISF and Serbia.
Zlatibor Continues to Build Its International Legacy
Following the successful organisation of the ISF U15 Gymnasiade in 2025, Zlatibor once again opens its doors to the international school sport community.
Hosting consecutive ISF events has allowed the city to further develop its experience in welcoming international delegations while strengthening its reputation as a destination for major educational sporting events. Through school sport, participants not only discover local culture and hospitality but also contribute to lasting international connections that extend well beyond competition.
More Than Basketball
Alongside the sporting programme, participants will take part in the educational and cultural activities that have become a hallmark of ISF events.
Through ISF Academy workshops, Cultural Day, Nations Night, and a variety of interactive activities, student-athletes will explore topics ranging from athlete wellbeing and safeguarding to intercultural communication and sustainable development. At the same time, they will discover Serbian culture, exchange traditions with fellow participants, and create friendships across continents.
These experiences continue to reinforce ISF's educational mission—using school sport as a platform to promote respect, inclusion, friendship, and mutual understanding among young people worldwide.
The stage is set. The teams are arriving.
The ISF World School Basketball Championship – Zlatibor, Serbia 2026 is ready to tip off on June 14th.
