Croatian President Receives Student-Athletes Following Success at ISF WSC Handball

Jun. 1, Zagreb, Croatia – The achievements of Croatian school sport received national recognition as the President of the Republic of Croatia, Zoran Milanović, welcomed student-athletes and officials from the Croatian School Sport Federation following their outstanding performances at the ISF World School Handball Championship – Skopje 2026.

At the championship, held in North Macedonia in April 2026, Croatian school teams achieved remarkable results, with the girls’ team from Fra Andrija Kačić Miošić High School in Ploče claiming the world title and the boys’ team from Ivan Švear High School in Ivanić-Grad securing the bronze medal. Both teams finished on the podium among the world's best school handball teams.

During the reception, President Milanović congratulated the athletes, coaches, and schools on their achievements, noting that such results further confirm the strong position of Croatian school sport within the international community.

Croatia has long been one of the most active participants in ISF events. Through the work of the Croatian School Sport Federation and with the support of national authorities, Croatian student-athletes regularly take part in international school sport competitions across a wide range of disciplines, while the Federation maintains close cooperation with school sport organisations throughout Europe and beyond.
