FEASSA Elects New Executive Committee at Hybrid Meeting in Uganda

Apr. 13, Kampala, Uganda – The Federation of East Africa Schools’ Sports Associations (FEASSA) successfully concluded its Executive Committee elections following the completion of a four-year term. The elections were held during a hybrid meeting hosted by the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association at GNS Plaza, with members participating both physically and virtually.

The newly constituted Executive Committee is a blend of continuity and strategic expansion, with several members retaining their positions after going unopposed, alongside the introduction of new roles aimed at strengthening the governance and operations of the association.

New FEASSA Executive Committee

  • President: Justus Mugisha (Retained) – Uganda
  • Secretary General: David Ngugi (Retained) – Kenya
  • Vice Secretary General: Maurice Okumu (New)- Kenya
  • Vice President – Administration: Deo Lugayila Joseph (Retained; formerly Publicity Secretary) – Tanzania
  • Vice President – Technical: Gekonyo Kariuki (Position redefined) – Kenya
  • Vice President – Welfare: Luke Karemangingo (New Position) – Rwanda
  • Treasurer: Patrick Okanya (Retained) – Uganda
  • Organising Secretary: Ayub Khalifa (New) – Uganda
  • Publicity Secretary: Othieno Denis (Retained) – Kenya

Committee Members

  • Anitah Alex Mlay – Tanzania Representative
  • Kipchumba Maiyo – Kenya Representative
  • Apolot Margaret Harriet – Uganda Representative

The positions for representatives from Burundi and South Sudan remain open and will be filled in the near future through an adoption process.

Speaking after the elections, FEASSA leadership reaffirmed their commitment to advancing school sports across the East African region through enhanced collaboration, standardized competition structures, and increased investment in youth development.

The successful conduct of the hybrid meeting underscores FEASSA’s commitment to inclusivity and adaptability, enabling wider participation from member states despite geographical constraints.
