ISF Leaders Join FEASSA Games 2025, Highlighting the Role of School Sport in East Africa

Aug. 23, Kakamega, Kenya – An ISF delegation attended the FEASSA Games 2025, held in Kakamega, Kenya, reaffirming ISF’s commitment to strengthening school sport across East Africa and supporting the work of regional school sport bodies.

The delegation included ISF President Željko Tanasković, Vice President Youssef Belqasmi, Executive Committee Members Olabisi Joseph and Stylianos Daskalakis, and Executive Director Hasnae El Ayoubi. Their presence underscored ISF’s recognition of the FEASSA Games as a vital regional platform, promoting youth development, education, and cultural exchange through sport.

Speaking at the FEASSA Symposium, ISF President Željko Tanasković praised the impact of the Games and their theme “From Playing Fields to Economic Fields.”

“When we talk about school sport, we are not only talking about games or medals. We are talking about life lessons. On the playing field, young people learn discipline, teamwork, and respect. These are tools that help them later in life — in school, in work, and in building our communities.”

He emphasised that sport is a “classroom without walls”, and that FEASSA shows the world the power of this classroom. Sport, he noted, is not just about competition but also about preparing young people for their future roles in society and the economy.

“School sport is not an expense. It is an investment. Every game is more than a competition — it is a lesson. Every young person we guide is more than an athlete — they are a future builder of Africa.”

Since their inception, the FEASSA Games have provided a strong foundation for developing school sport across East Africa. Bringing together thousands of student-athletes, coaches, and schools, the Games showcase not only athletic talent but also the educational and social value of sport.

For ISF, FEASSA represents a regional driver of growth — offering opportunities for countries to collaborate, exchange knowledge, and prepare future generations through school sport.

The FEASSA Games continue to demonstrate how regional school sport initiatives can inspire youth, strengthen education, and support local economies. ISF is proud to stand alongside FEASSA in promoting these values, ensuring that what begins on the playing fields contributes to building stronger communities and brighter futures across Africa and the world.
