ISF Concludes Inspection Visit for ISF WSC Handball 2026 in Skopje
The ISF delegation has successfully completed its inspection visit to Skopje in preparation for the ISF World Schools Championship Handball 2026.
ISF Event Director Uroš Savić and Sport Director Marko Petrič conducted a comprehensive review of the organisational and technical framework presented by the local organising committee (LOC). The ISF delegation met with President Ms. Elena Mickovska and Secretary General Mr. Gligor Hristov of the Macedonian School Sport Federation, as well as Mr. Ilija Risteski from the Cabinet of the Minister for Sport of North Macedonia. The overall assessment following the visit was positive, with clear commitments expressed by the organisers to ensure the successful delivery of the event.
Six competition venues across Skopje will host the ISF WSC Handball 2026, providing a dynamic setting for the championship. In preparation for the event, the LOC, in close cooperation with the Ministry, has committed to carrying out the necessary renovation works within the agreed timelines. These upgrades not only ensure optimal playing conditions for participants but also contribute to a lasting legacy for local school sport and the wider community, reflecting a sustainable approach to event delivery.
The designated ISF Hotel in the city centre will serve as the operational hub of the championship, hosting the official press conference, the draw ceremony, Heads of Delegation meetings, and the Nations Night. In addition, ISF Academy sessions will be organised within the four Delegation Hotels in alignment with the competition schedule. By concentrating key activities within accessible locations, the organisers aim to provide greater convenience for delegations while minimising unnecessary transport, supporting both participant comfort and sustainable event management.
Beyond competition, the event programme places strong emphasis on cultural exchange and shared experiences. The Cultural Day is envisioned as a guided journey through the city centre, offering delegations the opportunity to discover local heritage while fostering intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding, creating memorable moments for all participants.
To ensure a high-quality and engaging event environment, the LOC has appointed a professional agency responsible for the planning and delivery of ceremonies, branding, and live streaming. This collaboration aims to create a vibrant and well-produced experience for participants, local spectators, and global audiences alike.
Following the inspection, ISF will continue to work closely with the LOC in the final phase of the preparation. With constructive cooperation established and clear next steps defined, the ISF WSC Handball 2026 in Skopje continues to advance in a positive direction.
