ISF Leadership Visits Suzhou – Host City of ISF Football World Cup 2026

Jun. 20, Suzhou, ChinaISF President Mr. Željko Tanasković and ISF Executive Director Ms. Hasnae El Ayoubi visited Suzhou, the host city of the upcoming 2nd ISF Football World Cup, set for 2026. Accompanied by leaders from the China Student Sports Federation (CSSF), the ISF delegation was welcomed by Suzhou Mayor Mr. Wu Qingwen and CSSF President and Secretary General Mr. Liu Lixin.

During the meeting, Mayor Wu expressed his gratitude for ISF’s trust in awarding Suzhou the right to host this global school sport event. He highlighted the city’s strong commitment to youth football development, robust infrastructure, and growing football culture. As a designated national football development city, Suzhou has invested significantly in youth training systems, competition platforms, and campus football promotion—offering a solid foundation for international hosting.

Mr. Tanasković affirmed ISF’s confidence in Suzhou’s capability to deliver a world-class school football championship. He praised the city’s preparations and emphasised the importance of working together to create a meaningful experience for student-athletes from around the world.

Also present at the meeting were Mr. Zhang Ailong, ISF Vice President and CSSF Vice President, Suzhou city officials Mr. Liu Bo and Mr. Ding Lixin, and representatives of key municipal departments.

In the days surrounding the meeting, Mr. Tanasković and Ms. El Ayoubi El Idrissi, guided by CSSF, also conducted a series of site inspections and coordination meetings. These included evaluations of proposed competition venues, accommodation plans, and cultural exchange activities, ensuring that the event will meet ISF standards and provide a well-rounded experience for all participants.

The inaugural ISF Football World Cup, held in Dalian in 2024, welcomed student-athletes from over 30 countries and regions. The event was lauded for its high level of play, excellent organisation, and strong cultural programming—setting a new benchmark for school football competitions worldwide. Building on this legacy, Suzhou aims to elevate the experience even further in 2026.
