ISF President Željko Tanasković Visits Poreč and the Croatian School Sport Federation

May 15, Poreč, Croatia – ISF President Željko Tanasković recently paid an official visit to the coastal city of Poreč, where he met with representatives of the Croatian School Sport Federation. The visit was hosted by Secretary General Ivan Dujić, who showcased the impressive infrastructure and facilities of the Plava Laguna sports complex.

The tour highlighted the complex’s extensive range of indoor and outdoor venues, which support competitions in more than 15 sports, along with accommodation facilities capable of hosting a significant number of athletes and officials. Discussions centered on the potential of Plava Laguna to serve as a future host site for top-tier international school sport events.

As part of the visit, President Tanasković attended the draw ceremony for the National School Volleyball Championship—one of Croatia’s premier youth sporting events. Addressing the audience, he delivered an inspiring speech on the vital role of school sport in youth development, earning a standing ovation from the enthusiastic crowd.

This year’s championship finals feature 48 high school teams—24 boys' and 24 girls'—each representing the best from their respective regions. The event stands as a testament to the growing popularity and competitive spirit of school sport in Croatia.
